Green Songs and Poetry: Here's To You, Mr Tsipras

Readers, the people of Greece go to the polls tomorrow, and SYRIZA has managed to maintain a consistent lead over New Democracy in these final days. It just now needs to make sure it can win a majority of seats, even if it is only a small majority, or get at least some help from the Communist Party of Greece (KKE).

Meanwhile, I have a song to praise the inspiring work of Alexis Tsipras and the fact he is playing a part in helping all of Europe turn against neoliberalism:

Here's To You, Mr Tsipras (to the tune of 'Mrs Robinson'):

And here's to you, Mr Tsipras,
The Greeks shall praise you more than you could know,
Wo wo wo,
Solidarity, Mr Tsipras,
You're the one who can drive the Troika away,
Hey hey hey,
Hey hey hey.

So many past months have we been suffering,
So many millions have felt pain and thirst
Look around you, Alexis, we sympathise with you,
Just rally around and get your important message home.

And here's to you, Mr Tsipras,
The Greeks shall praise you more than you could know,
Wo wo wo,
Solidarity, Mr Tsipras,
You're the one who can drive the Troika away,
Hey hey hey,
Hey hey hey.

Help Greece free itself from neoliberalism,
Remove it from the shackles of austerity,
Call on the Greeks to all make themselves prosperous and free again,
Most of all, defy all threats from Monsieur Juncker and Frau Merkel.

Yes, here's to you, Mr Tsipras,
The Greeks shall praise you more than you could know,
Wo wo wo,
Solidarity, Mr Tsipras,
You're the one who can drive the Troika away,
Hey hey hey,
Hey hey hey.

Let your wonderful words inspire the ordinary people,
Let a socialist tide ride across Europe,
Shout about it, talk about it, whichever way you choose,
In any case, get our message across:

Screw you, Jean-Claude Juncker,
'Cause most of Europe has had enough of you,
Ooh ooh ooh,
We call on you, Mr Tsipras,
To make Juncker and co leave and go away,
Hey hey hey,
Hey hey hey.

Alan.
